End September 2021, I will be quitting as Executive Director of the Malawi Tourism Council (MTC). Relatively a short period in the post, of course.
During the past six months that I have served in MTC I have seen the revival of MTC as the true voice of the tourism private!
You all have been a part of that journey which has taken us from seasons of uncertainty to better times and I do believe our best times are ahead of especially when the COVID 19 pandemic is abated.
During the six months that I have led the MTC,I have sought to implement capacity needs for tourism entities, revived the Public Private Dialogue (PPD) a collaborative approach to tackling challenges that the sector faces by engaging the government, public sector players on one hand and the tourism private sector on the other.
Besides, I have increase members’ interest and awareness for the MTC and its activities, established the website and database for our members and engaged various players on future collaboration in areas of grants, loan financing and projects.
I have had the pleasure and privilege of leading a team of and working with a Board of highly talented and committed persons in delivering a suite of transformative initiatives which will continue to enhance the MTC lobbying and tourism business development efforts.
I therefore wish to thank you for your support, cooperation and encouragement during the six months. I am thankful to God for bringing me to this stage in my life. I am also thankful for the opportunities the MTC has afforded me.
As I leave to pick a diplomatic appointment as Consular General for Malawi in Dubai, I wish you all the very best for the future.
May God continue to bless you.
